Bed exit monitoring is a huge deal when it comes to patient safety. The Eleganza 5 Bed Exit Alarm helps caregivers detect and prevent falls and unsupervised exits from the bed.
Note: Bed exit monitoring is off by default, before activating the bed exit alarm, ensure the patient is positioned correctly on the bed.
To start, press the green GO button, then press the bed exit alarm ON button on the iBoard panel to activate the alarm. When activated, the alarm will always default to the most sensitive zone setting.
When changing zones to the out-of-bed setting, press and hold the outer zone button until it beeps and the icon changes. Getting a patient out of bed, pause or turn off the alarm as needed. Pause for up to 15 minutes by pushing the pause button, and to turn off the alarm, press and hold the off button, and press the on button to reactivate the alarm.
IMPORTANT! Always double-check and ensure that the alarm is turned back on when the patient is back in bed.
Note: If the bed exit alarm is ON and the patient moves out of the selected zone, the alarm will sound and will rearm if the patient returns to the selected zone within seven (7) seconds. If the bed is connected to a nurse call, most nurse call systems will need to be deactivated by the carer or nurse.
Patients need to weigh at least 35 kilograms to engage the alarm and take advantage of the Eleganza 5 - Bed Exit Alarm's safety features.
