How To | Multicare X - Opticare X: PRONE mode

Prone mode is mainly intended for patients in the prone position. With its optimal pressure redistribution under the patient, the PRONE mode offers great support when nursing the patient among other benefits.
Activating the Prone mode can be easily done with the following:
- Press the “Mattress” tile.
- Select “PRONE” mode.
- For bariatric patients, and for easier handling while in the prone position, select “MAX” to adjust the weight prior to proning.
- Note: Mattress pressure is automatically set based on patient weight.
- Check the setting in progress with a flashing mattress which turns into a solid green when completed. The pressure level indicator should also stabilise when setup is completed.
- Use additional position pads and pillows to relieve pressure/prevent pressure injuries.
- Note: Ensure to freeze the scales in the scales setting screen before placing any additional equipment on the bed.
- Adjust bed microclimate, manage intensity with the off, low, and high buttons.
- Check automatic preset pressure value indicated by the black arrow above the pressure indicators.
- Press the “+” or “-” icons to select a pressure level one value higher or lower.
- Note: Check pressure level bar and the highlighted digits for the suitable pressure level depending on the patient's weight.
- Check the timer indicator to know how long a patient has been lying prone since activation.
- Check patient position, the patient should be in a supine position to leave prone mode.
- Press the green tick icon to confirm “You are leaving Prone Mode”, otherwise, press the red cross icon to return to prone mode.
