How To | Multicare X - Lateral Tilt
Discover the benefits of using the innovative Multicare X Lateral Tilt technology for improved patient care.
The Multicare X lateral tilt is a unique feature to help with patient and carer injury prevention.
Lateral tilt does the majority of the work and minimises physical strain in the process. Tilting the bed to the side and with gravity creates a more gentle turn for the patient and helps the carer, not need to use extra force or assistance, among other pressure injury prevention programs. Lateral tilt can help with skincare and assessment, fluid shifting for insertion of drains, dressing changes, bed pan placements, and more.
Note: Before using lateral tilt, ensure side rails are up in the direction of the tilt. As a safety feature, the Multicare X will not tilt with the rails down.
To turn the patient to the selected side, use foot pedals, display controls on the multiboard X or via access control panel (ACP).
The use of foot pedals allows bed tilting and free hands at the same time. For example, carer/caregiver can easily be in contact with the patient and assess for any haemodynamics stability.
Check with the multiboard X for precise, small tilt angles to adjust.
Check with the ACP for it allows to control the all-invasive inputs as tubes, IVs, drains, patient cables, and others stay in place.
Ensure the bed is tilted away from the caregiver/carer and is approximately five to eight degrees tilted, or until the patient's weight shifts. This then can be followed by turning the patient further for the assessment, treatment, or complete procedure.
For common patient handling, it is recommended to only tilt at 15 degrees maximum, and to use stabilising pillows to be safe and secure patients on the bed, or to use stabilising pads when tilting over 15 degrees.
