Linet beds for both patient and carer safety have a two-step mechanism for opening and lowering side rails. The Eleganza 5 features a simple Side Rail Release button for improved safety and ease of use. 

The patient is NOT able to open and lower the side rail while in bed, from the inside. To lower the side rails, the carer can push the upper edge of the side rail towards the patient, and pull the release mechanism to allow the side rail to lower on its own.

With the soft drop mechanism, the side rail lowers slowly and smoothly, not creating any unnecessary noise or disturbance to the patient.
