The AVE 2 Birthing Bed can help mothers/patients giving birth, during labour, when giving birth, and after giving birth.
First Delivery Phase
Also referred to as “Dilation” this phase takes the longest time out of all the birthing stages and the AVE 2 Birthing Bed can help assist and support, while the cervix is opening from 3 to 10 centimetres. During dilation, patients can suffer from frequent and painful contractions which can be alleviated through the range of features found with the AVE2 Birthing Bed. Oftentimes, patients can and will go to the hospital when contractions get more regular, rhythmic or stronger, also after rupture of the amniotic fluid sac. During this phase, the doctor or midwife will perform a gynaecological examination. After the examination, a CTG recording is taken to monitor the baby's heart rate and intensity of contractions. It is safe to allot 30 minutes for the examination and within this duration, the AVE 2 Birthing Bed can help put the patient into a comfortable side laying position.
The Linet AVE 2 Birthing Bed has pillows, among other accessories to help improve comfort and ergonomics during the delivery phases. Use the hand controls or integrated controls for backrest, seat section and bed height control and adjustments. Together with its easy one-hand foot section operation, the leg rests and calf trays can be adjusted with one hand while the other helps support the patient. AVE 2 Birthing Bed allows for quick and effortless change of positions if needed.
The AVE 2 Birthing Bed can help with pain relief and a more effective delivery process through the following features:
- Bar - helps relieve back pain, loosen the hips or expand the pelvic inlet and improve oxygenation.
- High SWL - helps support both the patient and the carer for massages, among other techniques to relieve pain.
- Easy Height Adjustment - helps work as support when adjusted to the proper height, the bed offers improved stability when the patient is bouncing on a fitness ball.
- Sturdy Handles - helps the patient with stability during labour and when changing positions, the bed and its sturdy handles, one located at the foot section of the birthing bed may provide another way to support while the patient stretches and expands the pelvic inlet.
Second Delivery Phase
The second phase of delivery is pushing, also referred to as expulsion. The mother or patient, unfortunately, have been known to suffer frequent, very intensive contractions during this phase. The cervix is now dilated to a maximum of 10 cm or full dilation. During this phase, the patient is instructed to push the baby out. The AVE 2 Birthing Bed offers many easily reachable positions for expulsion, like the side laying position on the left side which is known to reduce pressure on the coccyx and the lower back, while also increasing space for the baby to pass through. The left side laying position is great for patients giving birth with epidural analgesia and for those with high blood pressure.
Other options during this phase include vertical positions which allow for greater opening of the birth canal, also letting the baby take a better position towards the pelvis for delivery. It's best to know that during this stage, the contractions are stronger, and the patient giving birth will benefit from the many positions available with the AVE 2 Birthing Bed to help support their comfort levels.
The Lithotomy position is a typical, and frequent position used for assisted vaginal delivery and can be done easily with the AVE 2 Birthing Bed and its foot and calf supports. The bed and its many features can help the patient giving birth, the carer or midwife, and the baby get through all delivery phases safely.
Third Delivery Phase
The third delivery phase comes after the delivery of the baby and the mother or patient giving birth are in the placental phase.
Stages of the placental phase:
- Separation
- Expulsion
The placenta is usually delivered spontaneously within 20 minutes after giving birth. During this time, if necessary, it is also possible to do perineal repair. The AVE 2 Birthing Bed enables the patient to be put in comfortable positions which work for the patient and the doctor or the midwife.
Recovery Phase
The mother or patient giving birth will need a comfortable place for up to two hours after giving birth. During the two hours, the patient is still in the delivery room, and the doctor or midwife will be monitoring the patient for possible excessive bleeding, among other complications. The AVE 2 Birthing Bed works as a great transition bed during this period, allowing the patient to be more comfortable while still in the delivery room. The use of a bed overlay is optional for enhancing the comfort of the patient during and after childbirth.
