How To | Latera - Lateral Tilt
Learn how the Latera - Lateral Tilt can help assist patients with pressure injury prevention and many procedures.
The Latera bed Lateral Tilt is a feature designed to prevent carer, nurse, and caregiver injury while assisting patients by creating more gentle turn and pressure injury prevention programs. The bed's lateral tilt function makes turning and repositioning simpler and easier for both patient and carer.
Check all side rails are up, especially in the direction of the tilt or the side where the patient is turning, to ensure patient safety before using lateral tilt.
With the use of the right foot pedal or the lateral tilt button on the ACP - Accessory Control Panel (depending on the side of the tilt), turn the patient away from the caregiver approximately five to eight degrees, or until the patient's weight shifts enough in bed to turn away from the caregiver, assess, or complete a procedure, etc.
When in need to turn the patient back to a flat position, use the left foot pedal or one of the lateral tilt buttons on the ACP (depending on the side of the tilt).
The Latera bed's lateral tilt will also assist with many procedures, including skin care and assessment, fluid shifting for insertion of drains, dressing changes, bed pan placements, and many more.
