How To | Multicare X - Transfer Mode - Side Rail Override
A guide to Multicare X Transfer Mode Side Rail Override, outlining the features and benefits of the product to help you make the best use of it.
When doing lateral tilting of the bed, the Multicare X prevents any further movement to keep the patient safe in bed when the side rail is lowered.
The Multicare X transfer mode or side rail override is mainly used during patient mobilisation, getting out of bed, for bed-to-bed or bed-to-stretcher transfers.
Activate the side rail override:
- Go to the “POSITIONING” screen
- Press the side rail override button to start the three-minute timer
- While the timer is ongoing, use the lateral tilt icon to help the patient by laterally tilting the bed in the direction of need.
- Note: the lateral tilt side rail override is extremely useful for bed ingress and egress, positioning, carer/caregiver intervention, and transfer, among others.
Lateral tilt override makes movement easier by allowing gravity to help reduce the strain for both patient and carer.
The lateral tilt override deactivates after three minutes and the alarm goes on. Put the side rail up to deactivate, flatten the bed and tilt back to zero degrees, or press the side rail override button again to extend the Multicare X transfer mode.
