How To | Performing a Mattress Hand Check (CuroCell A4)

    Hand check for CuroCell® A4

    1. Why is hand check important? Hand check is performed to ensure that the mattress system works properly.
    2. When should I perform a hand check? A hand check should be performed regularly, preferably once per work shift as well as after installation of the system.
    3. How do I perform a hand check? Note: Make sure that the mattress system is filled, and that the system has adapted to the user before performing a hand check.

    How to perform a hand check depends on which mattress is used, refer to the following:

    Overlay Mattress CuroCell® CX10

    • Open the cover
    • Identify the cell with less air at the user's sacrum
    • Insert a hand between CuroCell® CX10 and the underlying mattress, beneath the user's sacrum
    • Ensure there is margin between the user and the underlying mattress, so that the user doesn't “bottom out”.

    Replacement Mattress CuroCell® CX15

    • Open the cover
    • Identify a cell with less air at the user's sacrum.
    • Insert a hand between the top cells and the underlying safety mattress, beneath the user's sacrum.
    • Ensure there is margin between the user and the underlying safety mattress, so that the user doesn't “bottom-out”.

    Replacement Mattress CuroCell® CX20

    • Open the cover
    • Identify a cell with less air at the user's sacrum.
    • Insert a hand under the cell with less air, beneath the user's sacrum.
    • Ensure there is margin between the user and the underlying safety mattress, so that the user doesn't “bottom-out”
